Type Locality and Naming

The type section is near Liucheng County Seat (Dapu Town), Guangxi. It was named by Zhang Wenyou in 1941.

Synonym: Laohudong Fm (in Jiangsu Province)


Lithology and Thickness

Dolomite and Limestone. Composed of light-gray and gray-white thick-bedded massive dolomite and dolomitic limestone. In the areas of Nandan, Hechi, Shibie of Yishan County and Liangpu of Laibin County, the rocks are dark in color and intercalated with multiple layers of chert bands and nodules, with clear stratification. In the western and southwestern areas of Guangxi, the lithology is unstable, with limestone or dolomitic limestone interbeds or nodules often found, which sometimes change into limestone and become undistinguishable from the Huanglong Fm. It is 23−804 m thick.
